The First 20 years of the A.C. field Measurement Technique

چکیده
The A.C. Field Measurement technique was originally developed as a non-contacting version of the A.C. Potential Drop technique, with the aim of accurately measuring the depth of surface-breaking fatigue cracks at welds underwater. Since then, the technique has expanded into many diverse applications, both underwater and in air. This paper describes the evolution of ACFM equipment from the first commercial systems produced in 1991 for underwater inspection of welded offshore structures, to the current sophisticated, semi-automated array systems. Examples are given for inspection of threaded connections in the mining industry, robotic inspection of coke drum linings, and latest developments for train-mounted high speed rail inspection.

First mesospheric in-situ measurement in Iran using sounding rockets and plasma impedance probe (PIP)
This paper reports on the progress for the first development of rocket probe for in-situ measurement of ionospheric plasma parameters in Iran. The designed probe known as Plasma Impedance Probe (PIP) will be used to measure the electron density, electron-neutral collision frequency, background magnetic field, and temperature in the mesospheric and in the altitude range of 70 km to 150 km. This ...
متن کاملEmploying dual frequency phase sensitive demodulation technique to improve the accuracy of voltage measurement in magnetic induction tomography and designing a labratoary prototype
Magnetic induction tomography (MIT) is a promising modality for noninvasive imaging due to its contactless technology. Being a non-contact safe imaging technique, MIT has been an appropriate method in compare to other electrical tomography. In this imaging method, a primary magnetic field is applied by excitation coils to induce eddy currents in the material to be studied and a secondary magnet...
متن کاملInfrared Thermopile Temperature Measurement Technique in Microwave Heating Systems
Temperature measurement in microwave systems is essential for thermally driven processes, namely, catalytic reactions and ceramic sintering. Although, the application of direct thermometry methods, namely, thermocouples, have been commonly articulated in the available literature, however, contacted temperature measurement mechanisms have aroused concerns associated with the disruption of the el...
متن کاملOut-Of-Field Dose Measurement and Second Cancer-Risk Estimation Following External Beam Radiotherapy and Brachytherapy for Cervical Cancer Treatment: A Phantom Study
Introduction: The present study aimed to measure the scatter and leakage dose received by out-of-field organs while delivering Radiotherapy (RT) treatment of cervical cancer. Moreover, this study estimated the risk of second cancer (SC). The doses to out-of-field organs were measured using a lithium fluoride (TLD 100) dosimeter while delivering External Beam Radiothera...
متن کاملSmall field size dose-profile measurements: A comparison between Eclipse™ treatment planning system with NIPAM polymer gel dosimeter dose measurement
Introduction: Three physical conditions caused an external beam designated as a small field. The first is the loss of lateral charged particle equilibrium. The second is the effect of collimators on the primary photon source occlusion. The third condition is the size of the detector which is large compared to the field size. The most obvious perturbation effects in last condit...
